HTA 2.0 Europe – Teaming Up for Value: Introduction and conference invitation flyer

The HTA 2.0 Europe conference conference brought the participants up-to-date on the latest developments in the interface between science and policy in European healthcare – on HTA, regulation, reimbursement, health policy, and contributing fields of research. The conference also provided many opportunities for discussions on how collaboration, defragmentation and integrative approaches can lead to improvements in healthcare systems across Europe.

A year on from the establishment of the HTA Network under Article 15 of the EU Directive on patients’ rights in cross-border healthcare, HTA 2.0 Europe addressed questions such as

  • What are the key achievements in the European cooperation in HTA that may impact national/regional healthcare systems and meet their needs?
  • What is the present-day state of the interface between HTA, research, regulation and health policy making?
  • What are the current challenges and opportunities in getting effective technologies to the patients in Europe?

HTA 2.0 Europe gathered approximately 450 participants from all sectors relevant to health, including policymakers, academia, assessors, industry, payers, and civil society represented by patients and providers. The programme examined the achievements resulting from concrete collaboration across borders among HTA agencies, regulators, researchers and stakeholders.

All in all, the conference was a unique opportunity to discuss in a multistakeholder environment the opportunities, the challenges and the future of European cooperation on HTA for the benefit of European patients, healthcare systems and society at large. HTA 2.0 Europe – Teaming Up for Value was organised within the European network for Health Technology Assessment (EUnetHTA) Joint Action 2 supported by the European Commission’s Health Programme.
